Red light around 630–660 nm is absorbed in the upper skin, where the research associates it with fibroblast activity and collagen synthesis. In a controlled study, 660 nm light raised type-I procollagen and lowered the collagen-degrading enzyme MMP-1 — the building blocks of firmer, smoother skin.
Tone & microcirculation
The same wavelengths release nitric oxide locally, a signal associated with microcirculation and perfusion in the skin. Better surface blood flow is part of what gives skin its tone and lived-in radiance — the 'glow' end of the red-light story.
Calm & barrier support
